Atech appointed BioMedia® reseller for the UK & Ireland

BioMedia®, the award winning range of biodegradable and recyclable print media for the wide format graphics market, has just appointed Atech Ltd as a reseller for the UK and Ireland.

BioMedia® contains an enzyme additive that accelerates the breakdown of the polymer chain via bacterial digestion. However, this will only happen in a microbe rich environment (i.e. when buried) where BioMedia® materials will biodegrade to dust within 2-5 years. Until it is buried, your BioMedia print will remain a top quality graphic. Alternatively, the waste product can be recycled into light switches, insulation or plastic cups, continuing the circle of life of the product.

Exhibitions and events generate thousands of tonnes of waste each year as graphics in particular, are removed and binned after every event. By using BioMedia® substrates, waste graphics no longer have to find their way to incinerators or clog up landfill sites. Not only does BioMedia® offer superb print quality and durability (it will only biodegrade once buried), it is also a cost effective alternative to traditional wide format print Medias.

Mark Sanderson, Sales Director of BioMedia® comments; “Atech Ltd’s specialist experience of the wide format print market is widely acknowledged and they have an established loyal customer base of signmakers and graphic display professionals. They can now offer their customers a truly “green” alternative to rigid substrates and rolled materials which has been thoroughly tried and tested and we’re delighted to have them on board.”

Standard wide format materials such as Foamex, Forrex or laminated paper are neither biodegradable nor recyclable. These traditional substrates make up a huge part of the waste and landfill currently created at exhibition venues throughout the UK. The use of BioMedia® as an alternative material will help address this key issue for venues. The BioMedia® range is available in rolls of 200, 350, 500 and 750 micron thicknesses, ideal for roller banners and pop-up stands, as well as large format images. Flat sheet speciality products are available in 1.5mm, 2mm and 3mm boards. These provide ‘green’ replacements for rigid boards, but are flexible to remove the problems currently associated with cracking and breakages common with other boards.

“As many of our customers know, we are always on the lookout for new quality products that will help them produce better graphics, save money, increase efficiency or simply sell more print. We believe that the BioMedia® product range will enable our customers to target their existing markets with a new message and at the same time will help them get into new markets with the “eco” message. We have tested the BioMedia® product and it truly does produce a very good quality result with no sacrifice to durability, longevity or vibrancy. Green media is definitely the way forward and BioMedia® are leading the way.“ says Allan Ashman, MD of Atech Ltd.
